Champlain Thrust crackle breccia

Champlain thrust crackle breccia

A photomicrograph of a crackle breccia from the Champlain Thrust fault in Vermont. Both the clasts and the matrix appear to have originated from the hanging wall Cambrian dolostone. The angular clasts are separated by small amounts of matrix, and have rotated very little. This picture was taken under a magnification of 25x, under plane light.
